Question : Hi, I've recently experienced symptoms that match genital herpes. Im a virgin and Ive only ever had any intimate or sexual experiences with one person and they have been tested and are clean. How could I have contracted genital herpes if the only person Ive ever even kissed is clean? Im going to get tested today to make sure it is herpes, but the symptoms and lesions match exactly. I read that it can be contracted through body fluids so maybe I ate contaminated food or didnt wash my hand after touching a contaminated object.

I understand you concern.

Genital herpes can be transmitted only through close contact.

The virus cannot survive long on a non-living surface, so there is no risk of getting it from contaminated food or contaminated object.

You can send a photo for further evaluation of the lesions.

A possible cause of the lesions can be HSV 1 which is the oral herpes.

I suggest that you and your partner get tested about this virus which can also be found in the genital area.

If the diagnosis is confirmed through the tests you can use the Acyclovir cream for local application.

You can also use acyclovir tablets for oral treatment.
