Question : Hi, I’ve suffered with bv in the past and I get the usual symptoms of the fishy smell, increased discharge, and more apparent smell during sex however this time I have all these symptoms as well as a foamy discharge? Is bv known to cause a foamy white discharge ? I had an at home test 5 months ago for trich (this seems the most likely with a foamy discharge) and have ordered another one so all almost certain it can’t be that. I have been with the same partner for 5 years. I never got a test for BV the doctor just diagnosed with symptoms could I have trich and been misdiagnosed all this time?

Metronidazole can cure both bacterial vaginosis or trichomonas.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Bacterial vaginosis may have almost the same such smelly discharge, itching, burning sensation,try, greenish, white discharge.
Trichomonas may have it more greenish discharge.
You may need to do a vaginal secretions culture to find the real cause of the vaginal infection you are having.
Metronidazole orally can be the cure for bacterial vaginosis as well as trichomonas.
