Question: Hi, I’ve suffered with bv in the past and I get the usual symptoms of the fishy smell, increased discharge, and more apparent smell during sex however this time I have all these symptoms as well as a foamy discharge? Is bv known to cause a foamy white discharge ? I had an at home test 5 months ago for trich (this seems the most likely with a foamy discharge) and have ordered another one so all almost certain it can’t be that. I have been with the same partner for 5 years. I never got a test for BV the doctor just diagnosed with symptoms could I have trich and been misdiagnosed all this time?

Bacterial vaginosis may have almost the same such smelly discharge, itching, burning sensation,try, greenish, white discharge.
Trichomonas may have it more greenish discharge.
You may need to do a vaginal secretions culture to find the real cause of the vaginal infection you are having.
Metronidazole orally can be the cure for bacterial vaginosis as well as trichomonas.
