Paediatrician -
Start Augumentin DS - Once a day for 5 days and repeat the tests along with Widal. though the symptom of Thyroid and Dengue is not there.
ENT - It's a Middle Ear infection. Hence, start Cepodem 100 - Twice a day for 10 days.
My question is -

Brief Answer:
Otitis media precipitated by a viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are associated with a viral infection. There is a thin tube on each side connecting between the inner throat and the middle ear (Eustachian tubes). The purpose of these tubes is to equalize the air pressure inside the middle ear cavity. When we catch a cold (most often due to viral and/or allergic cause), the respiratory secretions or mucus gets thickened. Mucus block of these tubes leads to pressure imbalance inside the middle ear, thus causing otitis media resulting in ear pain and ear infection which calls for treatment with steam inhalation as well as antibiotic. Both the medicines are correct. Choose medicine depending on who you choose to follow up with. The prolonged fever is possibly due to the viral infection I described but the ear infection could also have a minor role to play.

You also need to give steam inhalation to your child. It helps in reducing the congestion and thereby the cough. Just sit with the child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. The water vapor will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief.

Regards
