Question : Hi. My boyfriend has plaque psoriasis. Recently I have noticed he is having a large flair up affecting his joints, and lower legs. Very flaky skin. In the last week he has developed a painful rash on both both of his inner thighs. It hasn’t gotten any worse but it hasn’t gotten any better either she is also stating it’s sensitive to heat.

Brief Answer:
Avoiding the trigger like stress is the key.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Psoriasis is a difficult condition to treat and complete cure is not possible in most of the case. However we can control the disease well by preventing acute flare ups.
There will be certain triggers like cold climate, stress, certain foods and drugs which will lead to acute flare ups. Identification and avoiding these triggers is the key to prevent flare up.
As of now the skin must be kept moist by applying petroleum jelly and moisturisers.Include more fruits and vegetables to your diet. If you have a prescription you can apply low potency steroid creams like betamethasone also.
Generally the flare up lasts for two to four weeks and settle by these topical agents.
If she is experiencing she can take analgesics like paracetamol.
If he is experiencing multiple flare ups, systemic treatment and PUVA(psoralen- UV- A)treatment may be required.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
