Question : Hi, My son is 4 years old and he is diagnosed for scabies. As per doctors advice we used permethrin cream once (7 days before) and now we are using dermaden lotion and momate lotion twice a day and atarax syrup once in night. Still we have small rashes appearing. is it advisable to use permethrin cream once again?
Brief Answer:
You need to use permethrin twice at a gap of 7 days
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Permethrin is the right treatment for Scabies.
It has to be applied twice after a gap of 7 days.
If you have applied just once repeat it after 7 days.
Also continue with the dermaden lotion, momate lotion and atarax syrup.
Usually the rashes and itching in Scabies takes 4-5 weeks to go off completely even after correct treatment.
Don’t worry as the rashes will settle in few days.
