Question : Hi, My son is of 2.10 years old and weighs 14 Kg. From past two weeks I have observed a hemorrhoid kind of thing at his anus. It appears for few minutes only after passing stool. I have attached the image when it appears and when it is normal. Any treatment required for this? Thanks, Khadar

Brief Answer:
Likey external hemorrhoid, will improve with Conservative approach

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for asking on this platform

I have seen the image and do understand your concern.
After going through the history and image it appears to be early case of external hemorrhoid.
This is usually seen secondary to constipation.
I can also notice some cut marks in perianal area which also can be due to hard stool.
Giving plenty of fluids with some laxative helps in almost all such cases.
Based on his weight I suggest you to give 10-15 ml of lactitol syrup for 3-4 days. After that give polyethylene glycol powder(miralax) 10 gm per day for one month. This helps in relieving constipation and also for hemorrhoid.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more doubts.
Regards

Hi Doctor, Thank you for the prescription. Lactihep syrup ( lactitol monohydrate syrup 66.67) is available at the medical shop. I bought this. 10 ml of this to be given in morning or night? Afterfood or before food? Also Miralax powder was not available. Instead Laxopeg (polyethylene glycol 3350) was available. I bought this. Each XXXXXXX will have 17 grams. 10 gms of this powder (after 4 days of giving the above syrup) to be given in the morning or night? After food or before food? If I open that XXXXXXX and after using half of the powder, the remaining can be given next day? Any issues if the powder is exposed to air? Thanks again, Khadar

Brief Answer:
To be given after food, just before going to the bed

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Both Lactihep and laxopeg are good.

You have to give this after food, just before going to bed at night.

You can use safely the remaining half XXXXXXX for the next day. Just keep that in an airtight container.

I hope this helps.
I shall be glad to help further if you need any.
Regards
