Hi , On Sep 15th,My Wife Underwent Medical Abortion Using
Question: Hi ,
On Sep 15th,My wife underwent medical abortion using MTP Kit (administered Mifepristone orally and 4 misoprostol tablets vaginally) under the supervision of a Gynecologist.
Heavy bleeding for 2-4 hours and and subsequent bleeding and clot discharge went on for 4-5 days.As per prescribed, she was also under antibiotics during this period.
After 14 days ,doctor had prescribed tranostat 500mg tablets for keeping the bleeding under check (since she was bleeding very light , mainly small clots brown in color and spotting)
But the concern is that she has been bleeding again (only during morning Hours ) for the past 1 week ( from Oct 1st).
B-HCG level was on 2940mlU/mL on 6th Oct and again on 8th Oct it was at 1910mlU/mL....
The Ultrasound Scan report impression read as
IMPRESSION: "No evidence of cystic areas/echogenic content noted in the endometrial cavity to suggest retained products of conception"
URINARY BLADDER: Distended, wall is regular and thickness Normal.No intraluminal mass or stones seen
UTERUS: Measures 3.8 * 5.3 *6.2..Endometrial Thickness 4mm, normal. Myometrium shows normal echotexture and no mass lesions
OVARIES: Both Ovaries are normal in size and echotexture.No adnexal mass .No fluid POD
Seeking expert opinion on the next course of action ..Is there something to be worried about and anything needs to be done urgently (we are consulting a Gynecologist at this point but seekign expert opinion through this forum ) ..should she be undergoing D&C ?

Beta hcg on October 6th and 8 is still high.How many weeks pregnancy was it at the time of abortion?
DO you have a preabortion hcg value?
Possibility of heterotopic pregnancy is very less as per the scan report.Scan doesn't show any retained products of conception.
I suggest you to get in touch with your Gynaecologist for a continued observation.You have to repeat bhcg again to know the status before d&c.

1)Would like to understand if bleeding is normal during 3rd week post medical abortion?
2)She has been suffering from severe cough and cold during this entire period..will that have any adverse effect on the expected course of recovery?
3) is she expected to be administered any tablet based on the reports that we have in hand.presently she is not under any medication.
We have indeed sought an appointment for tommorow with our Gynecologist but thought of getting additional inputs from experts in this forum.

As per the consultation we had with our doctor, she wants to wait and observe if the BHCG levels come down or not .She has been asked to undergo the BHCG test again next week.
Wife has been bleeding for past 1 week and doc has prescribed LIVOGEN tablet for now.
Bleeding pattern has been high for past couple of days wherein pad had to be removed by afternoon (morning till afternoon-1 pad) and post noon there is no bleeding as such.
Today there was a clot that was discharged (size of grape and dark red in color).
