Question: Hi Please
This is report of my wife could you please go through and advise. If there is any issue which Doctor to consult like Skin and VD or?
----------
ANGIOTENSIN CONVERTING *
ENZYME
*
Angio Tensin Converting Enzyme 88 U/L 65.8 - 114.4 U/L
Notes:
Method :Calcium Gen.2(NM-BAPTA)
Sample : Serum and plasma
Status : FINAL REPORT ** End Of Report **
----------------
RPR/VDRL NON-REACTIVE Non-Reactive
Notes:
SAMPLE TYPE: SERUM
Interpretations :
Non-treponemal tests (such as RPR and VDRL) are the preferred tests for screening . These tests detect almost all cases of early syphilis, but false positives are
possible. Biological false positive can occur in 1% of normal sera and other acute/chronic conditions like leprosy, malaria, relapsing fever, infectious
mononucleosis and hepatitis.
Limitation of the method :
Certain non syphilitic conditions which cause tissue damage can cause result in false positive reactions. Common conditions like malaria, typhoid leprosy,
tuberculosis, certain viral diseases, pregnancy and some autoimmune disorder can lead to low titer positive reactions. Thus positive sample should be confirmed
with specific tests like Treponema pallidum Haemagglutination test (TPHA), Fluorescent Treponemal Antibody(FTA). Faise negative reactions can occur in
stages of the disease where there is minimal tissue damage, particularly in early infections and in latent stages.
Method : Charcoal Flocculation
Status : FINAL REPORT ** End Of Report **

Brief Answer:
Your wife's problem is not related to Syphilis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
welcome to ASK A DOCTOR..
Thanks for posting your query.
RPR test is very sensitive test. As biological false positive results are common, only in case of positive, one has to go for specific test to rule out BFP. In your wife's case as the RPR is non reactive, no further test is needed.
Your wife's problem is not related to Syphilis and there is no need to consult a Dermato-venereologist.
