Hi Sir/Madam, My Kid Is 10 Months Old And Weighs

Question: Hi Sir/Madam,
My kid is 10 months old and weighs 8 kgs. She has been passing watery stools for past 2 days.Today we noticed blood stains in the watery stool and was alarmed ,consulted a pediatrician ,He suggested we give Taxim o 4 ml for 6 days/ twice a day.
Just would want a second opinion if starting antibiotics at this age is fine and is blood in stool a concern ?
Note : Kid is being breastfed

Treatment is proper

Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Let me tell you that blood is stool is a serious marker and is a cause for concern. Your pediatrician has done the right thing is adding an antibiotic like Taxim O. Please start it and proceed as per his guidance.
At the age of 10 months, breast feeding only is not enough and semi solids need to be started. There is a process of weaning and your doctor would be able to guide you about it.
