Question : Hi Sir/Madame,

My father aged around 76 years is suffering from tumour in one of the kidney. The doctor here has advised radical nephrectomy surgery at the earliest. Recently after the tests, the blood in urine has increased in the last 2 days leading to fever and weakness.

Could you please suggest whether it can be cured by medicine(please specify) or operation.

Also it will be great if you can please suggest on the risks involved in radical nephrectomy operation.

Thanks for your query.

I understand your concerns. If there is no spread of the tumor on CT scans of abdomen and chest, I would recommend surgical removal as that is the only curative treatment. Surgery is usually quite safe but some risk regarding infection, bleeding, wound problem always exist with any surgery.

Medicine can't cure this disease unfortunately.
