Question : Hi,

There is a big debate about taking a daily baby aspirin. I already have stents and on a blood thinner so why do you need the baby aspirin? Also, does a diagnosis of Coronary Artery Disease automatically add the baby aspirin to the arsenal?

What's more probable: A hemorrhagic stroke because of aspirin or preventing a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or eschemic stroke?

Thanks !! XXXXXXX

Thanks Dr..

I appreciate your quick and thorough response. Just have one followup question. I'm on Prusagal (sp??) as a blood thinner. Is there a difference in how my blood thinner and aspirin thin blood?? Chemically, what's happening to the blood?

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ron!

They act on different receptors offering such way a higher protection and providing a safer profile for your stents to stay open and function properly.

Meanwhile a gastric protector (Pantoprazole, Omeprazole, etc.) is advisable too.
