Question : Hi and a quick question. Please let me know what to do here. I currently take the medication Viibryd - at 15 mg and I am switching over to Zoloft because I am trying to get pregnant and my doctor thinks that is a safer medication for me. I cannot reach him but I forgot to ask about dosage. He gave me 50 mg tablets - but I am reading that just starting at 50 may cause too many side effects. I do have viibryd in my system so will it be ok to start at 50? or should i start at half of that dose for a little while? Will I experience major side effects if i switch over to zoloft tomorrow? Please let me know!

Hello, and thanks for your question.

Zoloft 50mg is a reasonable starting dose in this situation. If you have side effects, they are likely to be minor gastrointestinal upset. If you are concerned you can always take 25mg until you can reach your doctor, but 50mg should be fine.
