Hi Docter I Ordered A Hiv Rapid Test Online 8

Question: Hi docter I ordered a hiv rapid test online 8 months ago I just use it for the first time yesterday when i used I seen the lancet was damaged a little by any chance if someone got there blood on it could I be infected it was 8 months sitting in my drawer I received it in aug2018 I'm worried do I need testing again for hepc or hiv thanks
Brief Answer:
Not likely to transmit fresh infection....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
From what I understand, you used a damaged lancet and that was sitting in the drawer for 8 months. Any blood or body fluid stains on that lancet would have dried and disinfected during last 8 months. HIV virus or other hepatitis virus cannot survive for that long; so you need not be overly worried about being infected now.
In my opinion, you are safe from any kind of infection from the damaged lancet.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards

Brief Answer:
You will be alright...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
8 months is a long time for any infective particles to survive. So yes, you will be alright and it will not cause HIV or hepatitis infection.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Hi docter in your opinion how long would give or hep c last on a lancet and would you recommend a hiv test or hep c test or would it just be a waist of time thanks docter
Brief Answer:
Minutes to weeks....
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Outside human body when all body fluid is dried up HIV can survive for few minutes only. Hepatitis can last for weeks (3-6 weeks) and not more. That lancet has been lying around for 8 month - a very long duration for both HIV or hepatitis to survive. I would not order any tests in this case.
