Question:
Hi,
i am currently experiencing these side effects after take a tea with contains Lemon Balm. for the past 1 month, I have been experiencing these side effects: confusion, dizziness, lack of alertness, mood change and mild headaches ( on the front and sides of my face accompanied with a tightened forehead). I only had 2 sips of the lemon balm tea one time last month, and it's been ready hard trying to recover. I sometimes take fresh lemon with ginger water, analgesic (acetaminophen) and Vitamins and sleep to reduce the effect.
q
Other symptoms i have that are probably not related but gotten from my dusty environment is blocked nose(sinus)
Please would like to know how long it will take for these side effects to clear out, or if there is a possible cure, i frequently tempted to take anti inflammatory drugs.
Your kind response will be highly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
It is a quite strong herbal medicine
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is a strong medicinal herb and is also known to cause dependency. So it should not be taken unless specifically needed for some bad health condition.
The side effects usually recover in few weeks. In your case, blocked nose may be making your recovery hard. You can try Pranayam and breathing technique (yoga) to increase oxygen supply to brain. It will help clear the brain fog. Alternate nostril breathing will clear your nose.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
2 options for blocked nose
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
There are two types of options for blocked nose.
One is zylometazoline nose drops for decongestion. Second is fluticasone nose drops. Fluticasone is a steroid and reduces inflammation. In both medicines, it is only used on as-needed basis upto 2 times a day and not to be used more than 10 days at a stretch.
Yes short term multivitamin and probiotic combination can help with digestion problems and low imminuty to some extent. Antibiotics and many other medicines can impair the immunity so these need to be avoided. Drink clean water and inhale clean air to avoid recurrent infections.
Hope this helps.
