                                    Brief Answer:
A sexually transmitted disease
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir, Hello again...
Herpes simplex virus is a sexually transmitted disease...since you've already taken the test, it is recommended that your girl friend should take the test as well to see if she got the infection or not.
Herpes simplex is transmitted mostly through open sores either by kissing or by intercourse , however, it is possible that the infection is transmitted even in absence of sores.
