Brief Answer:
Hair transplant - procedure and complication

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to Ask a Doctor Service.
And thank you for trusting us with your health concern.

Hair transplant is a minor surgiacal procedure done on an outpatient basis. During the procedure hair follicles collected from one part of the body will be transplanted to area of baldness.
Sedatives and anxiolytics like Xanax will be given during the procedure. Procedure itself is done under local aneasthesia. You will not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.

Complications are not too serious or life threatening.
Most important complication of concern is the possibility of infection after the procedure. If at all infection occurs (which is rare if procedure is done under sterile conditions), it can be treated effectively with antibiotics.

There is nothing to be too concerned about the procedure. Please be adviced to follow up with your physician as scheduled for the procedure.

Hope I was able to help you
Please let me know if I can assist you further

Brief Answer:
Complications are extremely rare

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

The side effects from local aneasthetics can vary from mild symptoms like prolonged numbness, bruising at the injection site to more severe issues like bradycardia and hypotension. Chances of occurance of serious side effects are extremely rare, especially in a healthy young person like you.

You do not have to worry about the procedure too much.
If needed, talk to your doctor in detail about your worries before the procedure. This can be very reassuring.

Effects of Xanax usually last for 4-5 hours. Your doctor may prescribe Xanax for few days, if he/she feels the need.

Regards
Dr.Lekshmi

Brief Answer:
Nothing to be worried about

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Depending on the particular procedureused for hair transplant, multiple injections may be warranted.
It is nothing to be worried about.
Call your doctor if you notice any worsening pain, bleeding, pus discharge from.transplant site or fever. Such symptoms are concerning for infection.
Otherwise there is nothing to be worried about. Just follow your doctor's instructions.
