Question: Hi, my daughter is 9 months old. We are giving ceralac, lactogen milk, dal rice and some times fruits like apple or banana.
Observed red color rings on body areas like stomach, hands, legs
May I know if this is some allergy? Ring worm?
The rings disappear in a day and come back again the next day. This is happening from 2 weeks.
We are applying mometo cream, atarax drops, caladryl lotion, but rings do appear still.
Please suggest

Brief Answer:
Likely allergic reaction

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks For asking on this platform

Skin lesions are best assessed by direct examination.
Based on your explanation like sudden onset and resolution, it appears more like allergic skin reaction.I request you to attach an image so that I better able to help you out.
I would like to know if the lesion reappear after discontinuing the medications or even when medications are continued.
In allergic conditions medications need to be given for longer duration.
Also please let me know if you have introduced any new food item or history of any kind of allergy like skin or respiratory, in family.
I would suggest you to continue the same for drops and cream at least for 2 weeks. Use cotton cloths and try to keep the skin dry considering humid weather.
Please write back to me if you have any doubts.
Thanks

Rings are coming back even with medication

We introduced ragi malt and discontinued thinking that ragi malt is the reason. Also introduced masoori dal and discontinued.

Mothers skin is very reactive to heat.

I would like to mention that I do massage my daughter with coconut oil
We do have a pet dog labrador

Brief Answer:
Continue medication, Might be allergic to dog hair

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The skin lesions look like allergic reactions and it's persisting even after medication. This suggests that there is continuous exposure to some allergen. Allergy to pets might be a possibility.

Here I would suggest you continue the medications and to take all the precautions to avoid pet exposure.

Sometimes persistent exposure to the allergen over a period of time helps in developing resistance to the allergen.

If the symptoms worsen or it persists abnormally long, please consult an allergist for proper evaluation.

Thanks and regards
