Question : Hi, my fluoxetine was upped dramatically from 40 to 80 per day about 2.5 mos ago. Since then I've had auditory hallucinations, they scream at me and hate me and threaten me ……….seems very real. Can't sleep, can't concentrate. Very frustrated! How do I get these hallucinations to stop and be safe at the safe time?

Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you may need to decrease the dosage of fluoxetine gradually to 60 and give time to yourself to get accustomed to new dosage.
I don't think you need such larger dosage as 80mg/day.
You can talk to your psychiatrist about lowering the dose and also you may discuss about psychotherapy to help you cope with auditory hallucinations.
