Question: Hi there, I have a questions about DVT. How common is it and how do you know you have it? I recently travelled from Australia and was wearing tight pants on the plane. My first day I arrived I walked a lot and climbed a lot of stairs. My calves have been so sore for the past 3 days. Its probably just from exercising but at what point should I contact a doctor if they don’t get better?

Brief Answer:
In case of severe leg pain, cramps, warmth or swelling.....

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have undergone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, leg pain may be due to exertion as you walked a lot and unlikely due to DVT.

DVT is usually more common after prolonged bed rest or injury.

For pain, you can take tablet motrin. Gentle application of heating pads will also helpful. You can apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally. It will subside within 3 to 4 days.

In case of severe leg pain, leg cramps/warmth/swelling, breathing difficulty, chest pain, you should be seen.

Hope I have answered your query.
