Hi There I Have Had Some Troubles With Pain In

I have had some troubles with pain in both shoulders and neck and I have some swallow problems with food sticking to my throat lately. I also had some colon problems, stomach pain and indigestion. I am a long time health anxiety worrier, I am now scared of esophageal cancer, stomach cancer and throat cancer, also of neck cancer, althout x-ray and ultrasound did not show it.
Anyway, part of routine investigation was first time in my life a check of thyroid gland. They found a 5,7mm cystic nodule, they say they didn't find it to have pathological blood circulation.
I am also sending you the image. In your opinion, how likely is that this is cancer of the thyroid? Can cyst 5,7mm cause problems with swallowing (or at least what I feel is like globus sensation)?
Thank you

It is not a dangerous thyroid nodule.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through your query.
I can understand your concern.
I have seen your ultrasuond report.I can not see very well the details of your cystic nodule because the quality of the image is not very good.
From what i can see, i deduct that it is a cystic nodule with a very small solide component in the middle(the white zone).
The risk of cancer seems proportionate to the degree to which the nodule also contains solid components.
Cystic nodules are almost routinely benign.
The deduce the risc of cancer i need a clear image of ultrasound of the neck to see the borders of the nodules, vascularisation, microcalcification or the presence of neck lymph nodes
Anyway,i don't see any reason to worry about because the nodule is very small(less than 1 cm is considered a small nodule) and almost entirely cystic(considering the ultrasound image)
Considering what we said,it is clear that your thyroid nodule is not dangerous and the risk of thyroid cancer is very very small.
If you were my patient i will recommend you to do a thyroid panel to see your actual thyroid function and to repeat the thyroid ultrasound after 3-6 months.
Let me know the results and i will be happy to guide you further.
Wish you good health.

Yes, I don't have a better print, as I scanned the print.
Yes, the doctor who made examination told me this looks like a cyst to her and that there is no visible vascular activity in it (she showed me vacular activity around it but inside it was none).
I am worried because I am a male after 50 and I read in men it is more likely to be cancer and even the dreadfull anaplastic thyroid cancer, which you die of in 6 months.
From what you see this does not look like anaplastic carcinoma?
The size is 5,7 milimeters and I can not palpate it from the outside nor it is visible. It seem round to me, I read that if it is tall it may be more dangerous.
The doctor did look at the lymph nodes in neck, she told me all are oval like they should be with some fat tissue over them like they should be.
I am more worried becuse of my globus/sticking small food to the throat feeling, that this may be connected to this cyst, is that possible or is it too small in size?
Then again, the neck/shoulder pain, tyhroid cyst and throat/swallowing/stomach issue could not be connected? I find no evidence of cancer or disease that connects all of my problems, if I add a lot of fasciculations it is even more strange.

The cystic nodule is benign.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Your cystic nodule is too small and has benign ultrasound features(considering what can be seeing from the attached print and what the doctor who made the examinaton told you.
I will suggets to ask the ultrasound interpretation from the doc who made the neck ultrasound.
The details of ultrasound will clarifie the situation.
Don't try to make your diagnosis from what you read from internet because this always will produce stress and uncorrect diagnosis.
As i said earlier,i don't think you have any type of thyroid cancer, anaplasitic or other types.
These diagnosis are uncorrect and do not correlate with the ultrasound features.
You have only a small cystic thyroid nodule that has benign ultrasound features. It is too small to produce the sticking food to the throat feeling or produce fasciculations or even stomach issues.
My advice is to manage stress because it can produce a lot of symptoms and to stop reading from internet about thyroid cancer.
It is better if you discuss with a doctor about your symptoms and ask for the right diagnosis or treatement.
Hope this is helpful.
Best regards

When the doctor did ultrasound, she was noticing the cyst and I also watched. The cyst appeared and dissapeared as she moved the device at different angles. At one point she took image of it. But sometimes the cyst was only half visible (like a half moon), at other points it had different visibility. At one point it was completely round and black, she took the image a little later when it was a little white dot inside. So the white inside is depending on the one who does the imaging? I am just curious about that. At one point the cyst was all black I think.

Ask an ultrasound report.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
If the image is round and totaly black, this means that it is purely cystic nodule.
This is totaly a non dangerous thyroid nodule.
It can disappear within the time or increase in size.
For this reason it is recommended to repeat the thyroid ultrasound after 6 months.
If there is a white spot inside the cyst ,this means that it is a small solid material(prob calcification)in that point of the ultrasound image.
The ultrasound image is equal for all the doctors.
In my practise, when i do the thyroid ultrasound,i explain to my patient what i see and i give the ultrasound report at the end of the examination.
I m sure that your doctor has prepared a detailed report about your thyroid ultrasound.
Have you discussed with the doctor after he finished the exam?
Did he say that it is totaly cystic or a small mix solid cystic thyroid nodule?
I insist to ask the ultrasound interpretation from the doc that did the ultradound.
Let me know the result and i can give a more clear answer about your query.
Wish you all the best.
