Hi There, I Just Had A Trans-vaginal Ultra Sound This

Question: Hi there, I just had a Trans-vaginal ultra sound this afternoon around 4. After the exam I notices some bright red spotting on the towel the technician gave me to clean up. There was pretty good pressure with the device and it did get uncomfortable a bit, not so bad it really uncomfortable. I am a 51 year old female still have my periods although I went to the ER in 1/19 because of heavy bleeding and the abdominal ultra sound showed a fibroid on one of my ovaries. I followed up with my OBGYN she did my annual PAP which came back normal and referred me to the lab for the ultrasound. Should I be worried that I am spotting some and it seems like I am having what feels like period cramps..not sure when my last period started last month, maybe 26 days ago. I'm also slightly sore.
Brief Answer:
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
There are 3 possible reasons for this spotting.
1) There could be a small erosion on cervix which is has spotting on Scan probe like you have described.
2) Fibroid uterus causes spotting once in a while. Fibroid could be a reason.
3) Since you didnt have periods for 26 days, this could be indication of beginning of your periods in next couple of days.
4) How ever, any of these reasons are not life threatening and there is no reason to worry about. This spotting does not indicate any danger or risk. This is normal and no need to panic.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
