Question : Hi there. Trying to interpret my partners labs. His CPK is extremely elevated at 806. Two days prior he was hospitalized for having seizure like activity every 30 seconds for about 12 hours. They used IV Ativan to calm him down and sent him home on Valium and an order to see a neurologist. Since then we have seen the PCP and are waiting for the MRI. We just got the labs back and had heard he had an elevated CPK the day of the convulsions. However these labs were drawn days later. I also am wondering what the significance of an elevated b12 is and his microalbumin/creat ratio? I have included photos. Thanks so much

I have read your query and here is my advice.

Elevated CPK enzyme levels are associated with muscles breakdown.

These muscles may be the muscle of the heart (infarction), or skeletal muscles.

In cases of seizures, there may be a degree of muscles damage that may increase CPK levels in the blood.

Vitamin B12 may be found increased in cases of liver disease (cirrhosis for example), blood disorders such as polycythemia vera, etc.

The albumin/creatinine ratio is used as a screening tool for nephropathy (kidneys damage).
