Question : I had surgery yesterday and my fasting blood sugar is 190 this morning after not eating since 8 pm last night. My regular sugar would be 120.
Hi,
surgey or any kind of stress can cause what is known as "stress hypergylcemia". It will come back to routine in a couple of dayss. You can increase the bed time basal insulin by 2 units to counter this stress hypergylcemia.
