Question : Hii,
My husband was having severe pain in back radiating towards stomach , we got ultra sound done and CT done which showed a 5 mm stone and would it go by itself.
We wanted to know what could be the reason behind the stone formation and what could be done to prevent further formations.

Brief Answer:
You can expect stone to pass out spontaneously.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts and reports that you have posted you seem to have what is called as Obstructive Uropathy on Right side due to stone impacted in lower ureter .

Normally one can expect stone of a size of up to a size of 8 mm to pass out spontaneously through urine .

Taking following treatment will help to reduce the pain and pass it out .
1) Antibiotic like Cefixime twice daily
2) Tab Nitrofurantoin twice daily
3) tab Tomsulosin once daily
4) Tab Drotine twice daily
5) Urine alkalizer ( Citralka)thrice daily .

Ensure to drink more water to produce more urine hat would help to pass the stone down in to bladder.

As regards your query about stone It is the concentrated urine that predisposes to stone formation .This is common in summer and is mainly due to low water intake .

Second most common cause is urine infection which is secondary to dehydration resulting from reduced water intake .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
