Question : Hit in shoulder playing basketball with arms down. If I push my arm over my head , I have full motion and can stretch my arms out and rotate with full movement and no pain. If I try to reach out and lift a cup of coffee , severe pain and arm feel numb. What can I focus on before I can get in to Dr.

Brief Answer:
Can be a mild capsular tear.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The sudden pain that you feel on a particular movement is suggestive of a mild capsular tear that may have affected a nerve nearby that causes the numbness. The pressure on the nerve may cause numbness. You need to restrict the painful movements and provide rest to the arm for proper healing. MRI scan may be needed to confirm the diagnosis and to assess the extent of damage.
I hope this answers your query.
