How Accurate Is STD Results 33 Days Post Exposure?

Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: Hello doctor,
I had unprotected sex 4 months before. I was sick at that time, I thought flu but later it was found amoebiasis. I'm still suffering from it. When I was sick ( flu like symptoms) I had unprotected sex. I test myself for gonorrhoea, chlmydia, syphilis,HepA and C after 33 days and it comes out negative.
I tested HepB (surface antigen, core antigen and antibody tests) at 8th week and it comes out negative as well. I tested hiv after 15 weeks and it comes out negative as well. I'm not worried about hiv anymore.
I'm having itch on my body and now sores. I got on my arm, lower belly, groin and inner tigh. I am worried that is it because of syphills, gonorrhea or some other STD's.
How accurate my STD results are after 33 days?
How accurate hep B results are after 8 weeks?
Are these symptoms because if amoebiasis?

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, I understand your concern. I am Dr. Arun Tank & I am infectious disease specialist. I am going to answer your concern.

-You had been diagnosed as amoebiasis at that time, and you are on treatment. Can you come up what treatment you are taking and for how much period of time you had taken it?

-All of your report had been negative. That means you allay all of your fear regarding most of STD s. You do not require further testing. The test for HIV is 90-95 sensitive so do not required further testing for HIV also.

- If you are able to do test for sex worker? It will also helpful for you to be worry free. Had you contacted and tested that sex worker?

-The skin manifestation you described could not clear much regarding your lesion. Kindly upload the picture for me to help you further. Such a lesion I think unrelated to the STD s. Please upload the picture?

If you have anything else to ask I will be very happy to answer that. We wish you a best health at healthcare magic.
Thank you,
Dr. Arun Tank

Doc, I am worried about window period. I read on internet about syphills window period is of 12 weeks, hepatitis 3-4 months. I upload four photos, I'm getting these type of ulcers. They don't have pus in it. Just red and about .5 to 1 inch in diameter of redness around and when I touch top on my sore it feels very soft. And they last for maximum for a week.
As far amoebiasis is concerned I was taking flagyl for about 20 days. 10 days metordizanole of 500mg (3 times in a day) than for next ten days 750 mg 3 times in a day. I had stool test done after and it is still positive of entamoeba histolytica. Now I had test to distinguish which type of entamoeba histolytica it is in it's two types and report still has to come.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, good to see you again at healthcare magic.

- It is actually the incubation period for the disease which you are mentioning. Incubation period is the period after which the first symptoms of the disease is detected. But antibody can be detected earlier before the symptoms appear.

- The photo you have uploaded is not very clear but it looks like fungal infection or allergic disease.
I suggest you flucanazole 150 mg one dose and cetrizine. You can get this medication with your primary doctor prescription.

- I also suggest you paramomycin along with metronidazole for the amoebiasis to eradicate the disease. Please discuss about these possibilities and medication with your physician.

If you have anything else to ask I will be very happy to answer that. We wish you a best health.
Thank you,
Dr. Arun Tank
