Question: My wife is having pregnancy of 32 weeks and AFI 7.7 is 7.7,largest pcoket 3.1cm found in latest Ultrasound Doppler report. Dr. suggested to given BETAMETHASONE 12mg injunctions in two times. This is injunctions taken two time in 24 hrs.
Dr. suggested to take proper rest and adequate rest and will check after one week with NST test to decide whether they will delivery or not.
So, we are worry abt premature delivery. Kindly suggest Is there any way to increase AFI fluid or premature delivery is only option.

Brief Answer:

The amount of liquor is too less.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The amniotic fluid around the baby is less than that found in 50% of pregnancies at 32 weeks.

The medicines that have been given can prevent the further decrease in the amniotic fluid but are not likely to increase the liquor much.

The treatment given is adequate but if the fetal movements decrease or the non-stress test is non-reactive then a pre mature delivery is the only option.

If we continue with the pregnancy with a decreased amount of liquor then the chances of breathlessness- perinatal asphyxia are high.

It is better to go for a pre term delivery as advised by your gynecologist if NST is non reactive after one week of rest.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
