Brief Answer:
Colour pigmentation varies from place to place , normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us. For few months after birth most babies are pinkish , it is difficult to predict final pigment colour for first two years as child skin is in growing stage and pinkish hue takes time to go away to reveal the true melanin pigment inside . Some places like you mentioned may be darker than other areas as the melanin distribution may not be even , but this may change in the next year .
You cannot change the melanin content . It is better not to be too much worried and instead try healthy skin habits like breast feeding , giving fruits and vegetables and ensuring balance diet with cereals , pulses , proteins , fat like oil and ghee with water intake as guided by thirst .
Creams may not change the pigment , avoid using too many lotions and creams . Best thing is to bath twice daily with any mild baby soap or baby wash like the one you are using now .( syndet based )
Avoid powder and other cosmetics
Regards
Dr Arun
