How Can MRI Results Change From Severe DDD To Mild DDD?

default
Posted on Sun, 29 Jul 2012
Question: How could a serious MRI from 2000 stating severe DDD, buldging L-5 and S1, cervical spondolis and severe
bilateral facet disease now change 12 yrs later with a 2nd MRI stating: Mild DDD, and mild L-5, S-1 ect ect.
The doctor who ordered the MRI was angry I didn't go back to him to let him read it because I quit him immediately.
He was rude to me, called my husband: XXXXXXX Your daddy", He is 74 and married to a 54 yr.old woman. He ripped us off for 300.00 cash upon the 1st visit, and refused to refund us the 150.00. it's just the idea. We have Tricare PPO and he over charged us for the 1st immediate visit. My primary doctor didn't trust him and referred me to another orthopedic MD who read his MRI. I don't care for this very young different cultured MD as well, he is not taking me seriously after PT failed. He is only 37 yrs and doesn't understan pain, I prefer an older american doctor. He then referred me to pain control clinic and they ran up my insurance XXXXXXX for 3 weeks 1x a wk visit and no continuity of RX care with worthless nerve test for 10 minutes at 800.00 cost and he was a unethical. I quit that pain control clinic they also didn't take me seriously and just cared about greed and money. They also refused to refill my new RX for symbalta after started me on it for 2 weeks, refusing a refill RX, and said to come back next week for another visit with only 4 pills. That was a scam. They wanted to raise my norco to 10 mg, I refused and quit them. I did not trust them to inject my back with steriods after the lost of continity with my meds and lack of trust. I was also yelled at for sharing a bathroom with my older husband. We drove 1 hour each way to make it after coffee. The doctor yelled at me for sharing the only b/r with my husband. My back is really bad since my 2000 injury.
I am 51, My 2011 X-rays read much worse then the last MRI in 2012 with the XXXXXXX injected. The X-rays
showed severe DDD and arthritis in the cervical spine and thoracic spine, and the lumbar very weak with injuries. The latest MRI show Mild disease. The older MRI from 12 yrs ago showed buldging disks and severe injuries, DDD ect. My mobility is limited and I can hardly walk anymore. I am a nurse and ruined my back after 20 yrs of injuries and lifting folks improperly. Working in wealthly acute care rehabilitation facility, having to lift patients while passing meds per last Director of Nursing orders to me. We were understaffed on nights and nurses would call off the last minute. The last young doctor did state: "You have a crummy back" I suffer daily and my poor husband is so supportive. This all started a year ago since that last miserable job that I hung on so tight, clocked out to finish paperwork ect. HR stated they were wrong in letting me go and didn't properly orientate me. That place was a mess and a one star facility. I went from a 5 star to a one star. Also 4 whiplashes over the years and it wasn't even my fault. Old folks ran into my cars, an old lady ruined my back. I never sued or made money I'm ethical and now crippled, I can hardly walk or bend, I feel like I need a new back and permanent disability, at first I didn't want low income disability. I gave up my horses, Llamas, chickens and ranching life style and can't garden or bend much the pain is so bad. Tyl# 4 and norco generics do not work anymore. My bones are weak and I feel weak. I was a healthy attractive girl until I picked up that demented women off the floor 2 times and my back never healed. My back went hot like a fire burn, I couldn't stand up straight anymore thought it would heal 20 yrs ago as a caregiver with no training. I have my LVN and want to work 10 yrs longer, no one calls me for work. Is there a surgery: (Laser Spine Institute) where a patient can go back to work with minimal healing. Now my bones are rotten 20 yrs later, and I am losing my muscle mass, crippled, depressed and cannot find suitable work. I want to try surgery. The young 37 y.o orthopedic had no compassion with cultural difference and said I didn't need surgery.( Could it be the MRI fake reading) and mabey it wasn't my back. The 2 MRI's look different for 12 yrs difference on the photos and the summary readings. He then sent me to pain control since PT failed, it was a joke. He just pressed on my bad back for 6 weeks and no exercises. If I try to do my own PT I am worse the next day for a week or more. Again pain meds do not work. Should I just go on morphine and get my affairs in order, my quality of life is bad and I can't do warehouse nursing anymore grunt work lifting and constant bending over beds to pill these folks. I feel unemployable since no one calls me. I even applied for unsuitable work and still no calls. Why not get paid to be in pain and work, pop a pain med to get through the break through pain while on shifts ect. I have done that for years, now the pain is so bad while I am on Temp disability sitting and looking for work everyday and running out next week. I applied for over 100 jobs and no one calls me and I keep calling them. I have excellent medical PPO through my husband, I ask for per-diem as needed anyshifts and still no calls. I want to try a surgery from the Spine institute because they give a free MRI. I know another MRI will show worse. I did get hurt on the last job and was fired for not keeping up, they abused me on my orientation, My last boss hired me, he was my friend and Director of Nurses, he told me that place is a ring of fire and it's all family and friends. I worked like a machine without breaks on the night shifts, the fat pregnant nurses sat around all night and ran me down and out. My back was never the same after that and I didn't want to do a workers comp, I just went to my doctor and got my MRI, then received temp disability. That nursing home also called my boss a F. F because he is XXXXXXX and asked him to quit, he refused and they fired him a few months later. He stated to me they were stealing opiates from the patients and he reported them to the state and EEOC, he also won his EDD claim. The staff knew he hired me and I worked with him for years , and asked me if he is XXXXXXX I stated: XXXXXXX I don't know" and changed the subject. I didn't want to hurt him on his new positon as XXXXXXX so I left quietly when I was fired. My back is totally ruined inhuman stress, no breaks ever, and understaffing on Noc shift with over 68 patients, I could of did a workers comp because patients were falling out of bed, the lifting, the whole night on caffine, ect, the aids would hide. They fired 4 nurses that month for new grads at cheaper wages. Should I apply for permanent disability at 1200 a month or try to work and get retrained. I must get a release from my doctor to work again and feel I must lie and pretend to be healthy and work in acute pain with a bad back. In that case I am asking my doctor for Neurotin for break through pain and will take my tyl# at home only. I will need antidepressants and pain, anxiety medications and try to work like a machine again intil my back becomes crippled. What choice is there? Or give up completely. I must work or lose my home and everything eles. My credit is still good for now.
Please help,
Thank you,

Thank you very much, I am seeing my doctor on monday 7/9/12 and ask for a
release of temp disability to try to collect EDD and look for any kind of work. My husband can't afford to support us on one income. I really want a quick back surgery, What do you think of the Laser Spine Instituer? Can they make me any worse then a conventional invasive back surgery. I really want a totally disk replacement and or a new back if possible. Is there a such thing. If it was alittle pain it is ok, but now it is constant burning, swelling, and immobility and lack of energy.
Should I beg for surgery somewhere eles, and shop for a good specialist?
Thank you again

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I can understand the agony you have been through.
The pain in case of a severe disc prolapse is often severe and can be taken care of only with opioid analgesics with strong muscle relaxants like thiocolchicoside.
In case the pain is not controlled with these, then epidural steroid injections and surgery should be considered.
You can have a second opinion from a good specialist who can repeat your MRI scans as such a drastic improvement is not expected without a surgery and when the symptoms are persistent. Laser spine Institute is a good option if the surgery is considered necessary after an examination and investigations.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
