Question : My 47 yr old daughter has been diagnosed with Type A influenza. She waited too late to get Tamiflu. After suffering for 8 days with headaches and spending most days in bed, what can she do to feel better? Are ther liquids besides water that can help-- pediasure, Gatorade etc? What food? Is there over-the-counter medicine that helps? She can't take NyQuil. Thx
Brief Answer:
Possible Post viral fatigue.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your daughter is possibly going through post viral fatigue.
This takes at least 14 days to resolve.
A short course of electrolyte-rich fluids, Protein rich diet will help her to recover quickly.
Pediasure/ Gatorade both are effective.
A short course of oral Multivitamin supplement can also be helpful.
Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to improve her symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
