How Can A Large Sore Lump On The Head After A Fall Be Treated?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Oct 2023
Question: I fell off a chair and landed on my back and hit my head on a door frame. This happened on Monday, 9/3. My head has a large lump and is very sore. Do I need to get this checked by a doctor or just give it time to resolve?

Brief Answer:
Most probably you don't need further examinations.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

If you have just a lump in the head without other symptoms probably you don't need further examinations. The lump is formed by bleeding underneath skin causing swelling and bruising. If you feel other symptoms such as a worsening headache, confusion, irritability, vomiting or dizziness the injury is serious and you need further medical attention. Since you hit the head on wood so it's probably not that serious compared to a hit on the concrete.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
