default
Posted on Mon, 1 Apr 2024
Question: Hello Doctor,
I had got a ligament injury in my left ankle on May 12.
I had consulted you on May 21.
I have a follow up question.

Even now, if i walk to the extent i used to before the injury, i get pain.

I would like to know 'In a ligament tear injury to ankle, should one refrain from walking completely or is it OK to walk bare minimum to do the usual work? (I work as a software engineer and thus walk bare minimum during the office hours).

Brief Answer:
You can walk after putting a walking cast.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
You can walk to some extent in the office but it is best to get a walking cast done and then walk so that the ankle is not put under extra stress, there will be no pain and proper healing will be seen. The cast can be removed after 3 weeks. This can be put at your orthopedician's office.
I hope this answers your query.
