How Can A Rash In The Groin Folds Be Treated?

Posted on Tue, 19 Mar 2019
Question: hi I have a rash in my groin folds, its honestly always been there but recently the skin cracked and it bled. I applied some hydrocortisone and clyndamicin which is when it flared up. the reason I'm asking you this question is about two weeks ago I had protected sex with an escort and wanted to rule out herpes. I went to the doctors and he said it was folliculitis but that was before the skin cracked and it bled. I personally think it's a case of intertrigo. I have attached pictures. I need piece of mind as I am going crazy reading stuff on google and looking at images. what do you think doc?

my doctor prescribed me mupirocin will that suffice? are you confident this is not from herpes at all? if you view the 3rd image I believe that is folliculitis

Brief Answer:
Intertrigo and folliculitis.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The image is very much suggestive of Intertrigo. It is not herpes. Mupirocin is a topical antibiotic whereas I asked you to use a topical antifungal and steroid combination in groin folds.

Yes, the third image is that of folliculitis. You may use mupirocin ointment for folliculitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
