Brief Answer:
rest, ice packs, pain medicaation

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

A bruise or contusion to the ribs can sometimes take up to a few weeks to heal completely, usually no more than 4 weeks.

Treatment would involve: (1) rest- it is important to avoid activities that would aggravate the area
(2) the use of an ice pack to the affected area 2 to 3 times daily and
(3)the continued use of pain medication.
It is very important that the pain is controlled because persisting pain leads to shortness of breath with problems taking a deep breath. This can increase the risk of infection in the lungs.

If the advil is not working for you then you can use an alternative analgesic such as naproxen, celebrex
The pain medication would also reduce the inflammation of the site and aid healing.

I hope this helps
