Brief Answer:
Explained
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The foot needs to be examined for any pitting edema. If the swelling is marked and the pulses are weak or absent compared to the left foot then a Doppler ultrasound of the lower limbs and d dimers can be advised.
If there is no evidence to suggest heart failure or gouty arthritis on physical examination then topical Diclofenac/Capsaicin emulgel, ankle brace, NSAIDs and physiotherapy for 10 days should be advised empirically to see for improvement.
If there is marked disability on examination or movement then imaging should be done to rule out a possible fracture.
Hope I have answered your query.
