How Can An Abscess On The Outer Ear Be Treated?

Question : I am concerned about a swelling on my ear. It looks like a big hole with a big black glob of something in the hole. It does not look like a mole, to me anyway. I wish I could send a picture of it.

Hello, Thank you for posting your question on HealthcareMagic.
After having seen your image and your description, this looks like a complicated abscess with dead and necrosed skin in between which is black in colour .
I would recommend you to start using Natifloxacin ointment locally twice a day and Meanwhile see an ENT surgeon as the necrosed skin has to be removed .
Do you have any fever?and since how many days has it been there?

no fever. its been like this for about 6 months.

Hello again, I would still consider it as an abscess which might have hardened.One other possibility is it could just be a collection of fat called lipoma or a cyst.

Please apply this ointment if it doesn't reduce in 10 days you will have to see an ENT surgeon.
