How Can Bloating In The Lower Abdomen, Belching And Flatulence For About A Month Be Treated When Diagnosed With Diverticulitis And Fatty Liver Disease A While Back?

Question: I have bloating in the lower abdomen for about 4 weeks. It's fine when I sleep but gets worse if I stand for extended periods. It's mainly bloating that causes discomfort until I am able to sit down or lie down. I tried an anti bloating medication and that helped quite a bit today. It was intended for IBS. I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis about 5 years ago and fatty liver disease. Not sure if that is relevant.
I have to take a trip for 3 weeks to another state where my health care is only emergency coverage until I get back. I wanted some advice on whether I should cancel the trip or not.
Sorry... Other symptoms are belching and passing gas a lot during the day.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Your symptoms looks IBS related to me. I would recommend you following :
1. A combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone once daily.
2. An abdominal smooth muscle relaxant like Mebeverine.
3. To take soft and bland diet.
If you don't get relief in a week, then it is advisable to get an ultrasound abdomen done and if any abnormality is noted , get a CT Abdomen.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
