Question : Recently, about nine weeks ago I had interim dentures and about 18 extractions, so a full set. Not long after after they stated fitting poorly which I understand can happen. it's other symptoms that are a major concern. My lips have been cracking and taste salty like blood. My gums are real red and almost clear or whitish in a certain area. My tongue also is more sensitive. I am a heavy smoker and drinker as well. The symptom checker gave oral cancer as the top answer. I would like to know what my best option is to see a specialist, or how to be referred to one. I have health insurance. Thank you..
Also my spit is slimy and even white.

Possible Infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As per your symptoms the possibility of a periodontal infection is very high.
The possibility of oral cancer is very unlikely.
Your symptoms require a short course of oral antibiotics for symptomatic improvement. Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to improve your symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thank you.
