How Can Chronic Dry Lips Be Treated?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Jun 2017
Question: I've neglected my health in a bad way for the last 3-4 years. I was going through some very difficult times and resorted to heavy drinking, illicit drugs which would cause me to stay awake for 2-3 days at a time. I also engaged in sexual behaviour such as oral sex with street workers. I was not eating properly and also had isolated myself from everyone. I stopped at the beginning of this year as I could no longer recognize myself in the mirror. My face was bloated, eyes had developed deep circles, my skin seemed to be stuck in a perpetual state of dryness. Today I am in a much better place and have ceased all my bad habits although my body and mind have not fully recovered. I've given you my history to help you with your diagnosis.
First I have an issue of chronic dry lips (see attache pic) it seems no matter whatever I do, they do not return to their previous state. I've seen a derm regarding this and he had mentioned that this is the result of lip eczema and nothing can be done. I'm wandering if this can be contact dermatitis as a result of any trauma induced by oral sex. At the moment I apply aquphor on my lips to keep them moist. My lips had been peeling as well for a long time but this has stopped now, does this mean anything?
Another issue I have is with fullness between both ears, some days I don't feel anything and other days I can feel pressure between my ears. Can this be related to eustachian damage as a result of snorting drugs?
It is with much regret and shame that I sit here today and type all this. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Use aloe vera lotion or gel

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query carefully and understand your concerns. I have checked the attached image. I would insist you to apply some moisturizer like aloe vera lotion or gel on your lips. Do not use petroleum jelly or similar products of oily nature. I am not sure of the contents of Aquphor and therefore cannot comment on it.

The fullness of the ears could be due to a cough or due to Eustachian tube block due to any cause. Snorting drugs could definitely be contributory. I would insist you to take steam inhalation twice- thrice daily. It will help in clearing the blockage.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
