How Can Constant And Worsening Bloating And Nausea Be Treated?

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Jul 2023
Question: I am having major bloating, have had several colonoscopies, endoscope, thyroid testing, ultra sound, etc. and have always said it was nothing physical. IBS, But it's getting worse, now have nausea. The worst part is the loss of energy. It feels like after too much Thanksgiving and still adding 2 pieces of Pumpkin Pie. But I can't even eat a whole bowl of oatmeal. The BEST medicine I've had any benefit was a combo of tramadol 100-150 mg and Gabapentin 600 mg. The gastrointestinal Dr. here in Nicaragua prescribed Nexium and Alevian duo, but that hasn't helped at all that I can tell, just my combo I described above, tram + nerve pain med. The bloating is constant unless I take the above but even then it doesn't work every day.

Brief Answer:
Gastritis associated with IBS

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As per your description it seems like gastritis and bloating associated with IBS. As a first line of management you can take antacids like pantoprazole or omeprazole for symptomatic relief.
Avoid spicy foods and include more fiber rich foods in your diet. You can modify your diet in to small meals in frequent intervals so that bloating will not be there.

Generally symptoms will settle with these diet modifications.
You can continue analgesics for pain relief. If symptoms persist, consult an experienced gastroenterologist and get evaluated. The IBS has a psychological element also, avoid unwanted stress and anxiety. You can try relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation.
