Question : My husband has extreme tightness and pain in his back, about the middle left side. You can feel a huge knot where it hurts. He says that when he is sitting and leans forward stretching it it feels so much better, but as soon as he sits back up it’s right there again. I have massaged it out but afterwards within minutes it was right back again. Nothing helps. His Dr. percsribed him muscle relaxers for his lower back but they don’t seem to help that area at all. Neither does muscle rubs, patches or any other pain reliever. Any iaea as to what would or what could be causing this?

This has been constant for the past six days.

Brief Answer:
He needs physiotherapy!

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have reviewed this information fully. This is a classical case of muscle spasm. He needs a combination of physiotherapy and antispasmodic medications. He also needs to be taught what position is most comfortable for him as wrong positioning/posture could also account for this.

In all, physiotherapy mainstay. Antispasmodics in the interim.

I hope this guides and helps you. I wish your husband well.

Thank you.
