Question : I am 58 years old retired woman. I have been taking Carbamezapine upto 1000mg daily for 30 years till 2015, I have lost my hair due to its side effects. Now I have discontinued this medicine. I am trying various procedures of minoxidil, Hair for U,, Follihair capsules, PRP ETC, but I see no progress in hair regrowth.

Kindly suggest some solid solution. If there is none, say so.

Brief Answer:
Hair growth serum, hair supplements, hair transplant

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Hair loss due to medicines is usually reversible.
You can try hair growth serum like folliserum twice daily and take hair supplements like tablet proanagen once daily for at least 3 months. This should help in resolving your problem. If still it doesn’t work the last option is hair transplantation.

I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to answer any further queries.

Dr. Asmeet

I have already been using Q-Sera, a hair serum and have been trying other solutions for the last 3 years. If no regrowth could it be due to increased DHT?

Please confirm your advice.
Thanks.

Hair loss could be associated with raised DHT levels

Hi,

Yes it could be due to raised DHT levels.
If you have already tried hair serums then last resort is hair transplant.

Thanks for your patience. Then what ways to adopt to counter raised DHT level? Please mention.

And I may also go for your hair supplements Proanagen for 3 months.

Also is it worth going for hair transplantation if nothing happens after 3 months? What is the procedure for it and how many sessions?

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Can take anti androgen tab finasteride, can take proanagen along with it

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You can go for anti androgen like tablet finasteride 1 mg once daily.
It is a prescription drug and should be taken under the supervision of the doctor.
You can take proanagen tablet along with it.
If nothing works then go for hair transplant.
It is usually done in a single sitting under local anesthesia.
It is a day care procedure and is effective option.
