How Can Non-stop Belching Be Managed?

Question : Hello,

For the past week I have been burping non-stop. I burp constantly, even when I haven't eaten anything recently. It starts when I wake up in the morning and lasts throughout the day. The burping gets worse when I move and walk around. I have tried antacids and gas-x and neither have seemed to have any effect.

I'm a healthy 27 year old male. I've never had a history or Acid Reflux or Gerd in the past.

Hi,

This seems like indigestion or improper fermentation of food. I'd recommend taking a probiotic eg. VSL#3 twice daily for 2 weeks. They contain good bacteria and help in proper digestion of food.

In order to relieve yourself, please to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake (if it a part of your habit).
* Take Omeprazole (Prilosec) once daily before breakfast along with VSL#3 twice daily.
* Have plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like ispaghula/psyllium husk or senna.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* Take curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.
