Brief Answer:
50 mcg is sufficient.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

It's very important that you continue taking thyroxine supplementation regularly.

Discontinuation of these medications can result in rapid worsening of thyroid issues resulting in gross expression of symptoms.

Considering the latest value of TSH of 8.5, it's advisable to resume a similar dose of thyroxine of 50 mcg only.

Likewise, it's advisable to repeat the Complete Thyroid profile after 1 month to titrate the dosage.

Additionally, the reports show severe vitamin D deficiency which requires correction by oral vitamin D supplementation at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Initial 12 weeks of therapy may be required.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As you have reported severe vitamin D deficiency, it's advisable to consider Vitamin D supplementation for at least 12 weeks initially. Further extension of therapy to another 12 weeks may depend on the vitamin D levels after the initial 12 weeks.

I generally prescribe oral medications of Cholecalciferol 60,000 IU, one pill once a week only for 12 such weeks to my patients with lab abnormalities.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these medications to you.

Hope I have answered your query.
