Question : My daughter is having sharp pains on her left side right below her breast. It started during swim practice last night and was really painful. It did improve but has not gone away, tonight it is flaring up again and she's been resting.

Hi,

Based on your history, it could be a muscular pain if it pains intermittently. I usually prescribe analgesics like ibuprofen. Also ensure she drinks a lot of liquids to keep her hydrated, as dehydration can worsen muscle cramps.

If pain doesn't subside, or if there is any swelling or tender point, consult your doctor.
