Brief Answer:
Could be related to sinus trouble or...

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

From what you describe, this seems to be positional vertigo - there is sudden dizziness following change of head position. Positional vertigo is commonly due to disturbances of the balancing system located within the ear. A long standing sinus trouble is known to be a precipitating factor and it needs to be rectified.

A second possibility is that of blood pressure drop with sudden posture change. I understand your BP seems normal. However, blood pressure needs to be recorded in a lying down as well as standing position (tilt table test). Tilt table test is more important if you suffer from diabetes and / or high blood pressure.

In my opinion, you should contact your primary care provider who will perform tilt table test and evaluate the ear for signs of ear balancing system involvement. Please consider visiting your doctor.

In the interim, I advise you to avoid sudden and exaggerated change of posture. Steam inhalation along with antihistamines (tab Zyrtec) will provide additional benefits.

Hope this answers your question.
