Brief Answer:
About Hashimoto thyroiditis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

You have a chronic autoimmune disease called Hashimoto thyroiditis.

It means that your body produces AntiTPO antibodies that destroy the thyroid gland and when more than 80% of the gland is destroyed (that is manifested with high TSH level) it does not produce thyroid hormones and you should take the hormone (synthroid) orally.

TSH is slightly elevated (usually the upper normal level is 4.2) and if you have symptoms of an underactive thyroid, you may continue with synthroid.

Hope I have been clear and helpful.
