How Can Tinea Cruris Be Treated?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 May 2017
Question: I'm 62 yrs. old. Pretty fit usually no complaints. At first I thought it was just jock rash. I sprayed over a period of time 3 or so cans of over the counter jock spray. I stopped and it felt a bit better. I didn't want to over due it w/ more spray. Now I feel some tenderness still there and now also in the penis area and also as if my balls have fallen lower. I don't know if it's pychosymatic or what. Do you have any suggestions.

Brief Answer:
Advice to follow up with a dermatologist to confirm diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank You for the query at HealthcareMagic,

It takes 2-4 weeks to clear up jock itch with topical antifungal treatments.
I would recommend re-evaluation of diagnosis since you have been having the symptoms for some time.

Other conditions like eczema, psoriasis etc. can also present like jock itch.

Confirmation of diagnosis requires a physical examination and microscopic evaluation of skin scrapings.

Please be advised to follow up with a dermatologist/ primary care provider for further management.

Meanwhile, keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton underwear and use Lotrimin ointment (since Tinactin does not seem to be working for you).

Hope I was able to help you
