How Complicated Is Cervical Adhesion Removal Surgery?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Dec 2015
Question: Today my wife had to undergo polyp removal surgery i.e hysteroscopic polypectomy. However, after anaesthesia, the surgery could not be done because doctor said that uterus wall is cemented and since it is fibrous, they could not insert to remove the polyp. She said that first the blockage between vagina and uterus need to be removed by some expert who has experience in this field as it require specialisation. I would like to ask that how complicated the operation is, as we are desperate to have a child. Our marriage is 21 months old and my wife is of 37 years. Second, we conducted so many ultrasound in the last 21 months but no one detected it. Is it possible? Third, which are the good centres for such specialised surgery? Fourth, after the operation, we would have child as our other reports are good. Kindly reply.

1) there was some polyps found in tvs ultrasound. So doctor at fortis XXXXXXX advised for minor surgery today for polyp removal.but she said that some polyp could not be removed as uterine wall is fibrous.
2) she said there is blockage between vagina and uterus due to this.so laparoscopy need to b done by making fine incision which can b done by someone who is an expert. After this only we can have baby.

Brief Answer:
This can be operated. Not complicated

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is not a complicated surgery. It is possible that there was adhesions in cervix which prevented the Hysteroscope from advancing forward.

This cannot be identified by ultrasound scan. Such adhesions are encountered during surgery only.

This can be operated by a Laparoscopic surgeon. This is not a difficult surgery in trained hands.

This will be solved and you can try for pregnancy after the polypectomy.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Discharge summary says: An attempt to negotiate internal os with dilator no. 2 made, but it was not possible as cervical canal was fibrosed. Hence, decision to abandon the procedure taken as patient needs laparoscopy guided hysteroscopic cervical adhesiolysis.
I want to know who are the best doctors in XXXXXXX to perform this surgery? How complicated the operation is, as we desperately need baby.
