Detailed Answer: Dear Madam, Thank you for posting your query on XXXXXXX Well looking in to your query I will like to tell you that SGPT of 40 is not a very high value that should worry you . I will advise you to get a USG abdomen done to look for any changes of fatty liver which may be the cause behind the elevation of SGOT . Alcohol also causes fatty liver changes , in that case you have to reduce the intake of alcohol and fatty foods . But first the etiology needs to established only then treatment will be advised.
